Saint Francis was born to a wealthy family, but gave up his worldly possessions and place in society to tend to the sick and poor. He is the founder of the Franciscan Order and is known for arranging the first Christmas Nativity scene. In 1224, he received the stigmata and became the first person to ever bear the wounds of Christ's Passion. He died two years later.
